Many children may have difficulty interpreting the stimuli and environmental factors they experience. Childhood development is the foundation upon which we construct life principles, consciously or unconsciously. Children are highly responsive to authority figures because they depend on them for guidance. However, children can only form rudimentary thoughts and concepts in their early development. Parents often promote dogma and cultural indoctrination, which hinders or distorts the child's neurological growth regarding critical thinking skills and practicality. One child's contentment is another child's trauma. For example, some children are terrified by religious beliefs. These beliefs play a significant role in adolescence and adulthood, as they usually result in anxieties, repressed or false memories, depressive disorders, and PTSD. Yet another child may find religious beliefs cheerful and hopeful. It's Freudian, I know, but its merit isn't dismissable. If they don't receive treatment for their mental health, they're likely to use unhealthy coping mechanisms to divert their emotions and feelings.
